Under general supervision, the Instructor is responsible for providing instruction and facilitating student learning according to the prescribed curriculum

 


General Qulification


2 YEARS PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE, DEGREE OR DIPLOMA IN RELATED FIELD

 


Specific Responsibilities



Reporting to the Campus Director, the Instructor is accountable for the following:

- Dealing with students, staff and other instructors in a professional, courteous and helpful manner
- Delivering instruction that meets module and program objectives as set out in the curriculum
- Preparing lesson plans and teaching aids that utilize a variety of teaching methods which will promote the attainment of desirable goals of students
- Discussing students' progress with them individually and as a group
- Explaining the course outline and expectations to students
- Informing the Campus Director of any significant changes or problems that arise during a practicum
- Attending Instructors' meetings, as required
- Possessing a clear understanding of, and upholding, the College's policies and procedures relating to students and instructors
- Cooperating with the administration staff in the performance of their duties
- Completing required forms and records and submitting them to administration staff in a timely manner
- Maintaining relevant industry skills and knowledge
- Other duties as assigned

- Ability to assess students and make decisions regarding passing and failing

- Ability to motivate and inspire students
- Demonstrate and encourage high standards of behaviour, a professional attitude and commitment to quality service
- Ability to work cooperatively with other instructors and staff
- Ability to consider and respond appropriately to the needs, feelings and capabilities of students, to provide feedback and treat students equitably
